It took all of 6 days for a Republican to go mad with power. There is nothing more unproductive than a congressional investigation and having them on what has happened over the last 4 years while the Democrats have controlled congress is even a bigger waste but as reported in the Politico today Representative Darrell Issa is going to go great guns on the Dems.
Darrell Issa plans hundreds of hearings
I am pretty sure Issa is going to look into the bathing habits of every congressional Democrat.
California Rep. Darrell Issa is already eyeing a massive expansion of oversight for next year, including hundreds of hearings, creating new subcommittees, and launching fresh investigations into the bank bailout, the stimulus and potentially health care reform.
Issa told POLITICO in an interview that he wants each of his seven subcommittees to hold “one or two hearings each week.”
“I want seven hearings a week times 40 weeks,” Issa said.
Here is an idea Darrell. Move on and get to the business of fixing the country. Why are we bothering to have hearings on what was done legally by elected officials. However misguided they are and even ignorant of what the people truly wanted. We know what they did and asking why is not a useful question at this point. Issa does at one point, say something he should heed.
Issa is also targeting some ambitious up and comers like Reps. Jason Chaffetz (Utah), Patrick McHenry (N.C.) and Jim Jordan (Ohio) – all aggressive partisans – to chair some of his subcommittees.
He also wants to organize aggressive oversight beyond his committee, and plans to refer inquiries to other House panels, drawing even more incoming GOP chairmen to the cause of investigating the executive branch.
“As Clint Eastwood says, a man needs to know his limitations,” Issa said in the interview.
