Executive orders are where the rubber meets the road folks

You and I have been head faked.  We thought that the health care bill was the be all end all of power grabs.  In the broadest sense it was.  But if you look a little closer you find as has been said before that these laws are only framework.   Since George Washington Presidents have been issuing executive orders,  Most are about how we treat a country or how they deal with their cabinets.   The order I want to talk about today is one of those.  It looks on the surface to be the President directing his cabinet to address specific issues but the issue is the nation’s health and the goal is federal oversight of health care and our health in general.   The executive order in question is 13544   titled  “Establishing the National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council”

The health care bill while over 2000 pages only laid the foundation for this Executive order.  President Obama citing the Constitution and the Patient Affordable Care act (Health care debacle or diversion your call) has place almost every cabinet member in one organization whose sole purpose is to set federal policy on health care. Here is the makeup of the “Council”

Sec. 2. Membership.
(a) The Surgeon General shall serve as the Chair of the Council, which
shall be composed of:
(1) the Secretary of Agriculture;
(2) the Secretary of Labor;
(3) the Secretary of Health and Human Services;
(4) the Secretary of Transportation;
(5) the Secretary of Education;
(6) the Secretary of Homeland Security;
(7) the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency;
(8) the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission;
(9) the Director of National Drug Control Policy;
(10) the Assistant to the President and Director of the Domestic Policy
(11) the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs;
(12) the Chairman of the Corporation for National and Community Service;
(13) the head of any other executive department or agency that the Chair
may, from time to time, determine is appropriate.

Look through the list and ask yourself one very important question.  What does each one of them have to do with Health care and the nations focus on health.   I can name 10 right off the bat whose job description should never put them in the realm of health care.

And here is really why this was ordered. Remember folks there could be a repeal or court overturn of the Health care bill.

What will the Council do?

Sec. 5. National Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy. Not later than
March 23, 2011, the Chair, in consultation with the Council, shall develop
and make public a national prevention, health promotion, and public health
strategy (national strategy), and shall review and revise it periodically. The
national strategy shall:
(a) set specific goals and objectives for improving the health of the United
States through federally supported prevention, health promotion, and public
health programs, consistent with ongoing goal setting efforts conducted by
specific agencies;
(b) establish specific and measurable actions and timelines to carry out
the strategy, and determine accountability for meeting those timelines, within
and across Federal departments and agencies; and
(c) make recommendations to improve Federal efforts relating to prevention,
health promotion, public health, and integrative health-care practices
to ensure that Federal efforts are consistent with available standards and

Do you still think that the Government had no intention of taking over the health care system.  I really don’t make judgements about the electorate on this blog but if you kept your current Senator or Congressperson who voted for this bill you have chosen to turn this country into an autocracy.  You have given your freedom over to a group of people intent on making this a Federal run country.   It should not be folks.  Only the States give the Federal Government its power.

The plan?  Elect State officials willing to challenge Washington on this power grab and challenge in the courts and electoral level anyone who thinks the Feds should be telling anyone what to do.  We have gone upside down here.

As always read for yourself.
