This tragedy continues to divide the country further along party lines and Congress had a conference call today to discuss it. I am sure there is great concern among the congress about the shooting of one of their own. There are still more questions than answers about the cause of this tragedy but here are some of the facts that can not be refuted.
Jared Lee Loughner walked into a crowd of people and attempted to assassinate Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. This sad sick individual whose political leanings truthfully can not be determined due to the rambling videos he posted acted alone. The second person was later identified as the cab driver. I am sure he feels terrible. Three people stopped Loughner at the scene by tackling him and restraining him. Innocent people died at this mans hand. 6 souls who will never get to go home again. Oh and Loughner was known to police and maybe DHS based on them releasing a memo today. Here is that memo that Fox released today
“The investigation has been taken over by the FBI, and is being run through the Tucson Command Post. Here’s what can be confirmed at this time (1800 hrs)… * Gabrielle Giffords Is in ICU.* Federal judge John Roll is deceased. He did rule on a 32 million dollar civil rights lawsuit in February, 2010. That ruling brought death threats to Roll and his family, and for a time he was given a protection detail.* 6 deaths attributed to the shooting. 19 total people hit by gunfire.* suspect’s mother works for the Pima County Board of Supervisors* the suspect has multiple arrests … But no criminal record? Intervention by someone?* no direct connection – but strong suspicion is being directed at AmRen / American Renaissance. Suspect is possibly linked to this group. (through videos posted on his myspace and YouTube account.). The group’s ideology is anti government, anti immigration, anti ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti Semitic. Gabrielle Gifford is the first Jewish female elected to such a high position in the US government. She was also opposite this group’s ideology when it came to immigration debate.* DHS have a list of names and dates of birth of all victims.* the ACTIC is still playing a major role in the investigation… Computer forensics is cleaning up the surveillance videos, and images from around the scene, and involved in the investigation – working together, was MCSO, DPS, Phoenix PD, ICE, and of course the FBI. It did just come in from the command post, that the federal judge was Not originally scheduled to attend the meeting, according to wife. She stated that he received a phone call about an hour before and was invited to attend. Wrong place – wrong time. For the planning side, there are impromptu memorials popping up all over the state, but the largest one is downtown phoenix, at the capital.” (Emphasis added by Politico).
This memo is obviously preliminary and broad. I watched three of the videos to completion and never saw the organization they speak of mentioned. I checked out the website and it is a white supremacist group that does not appear to be affilitaed with any party or ideology other than whites. But note the arrests and no record comment. Why is the right question. Could this all have been avoided? This is not a left-right issue this is a mental health issue.
Now I will go into the Congressman’s announcement today. The democrat hack (Authors Note: not intended to be inflammatory just descriptive) Bob Brady is going to propose legislation about hate speech against congress. This he said was to reassure the wives of the freshman class that they will be protected. Here is the RollCall.com report
Brady Will Offer Bill to Expand Protections for Members
- By Daniel Newhauser
- Roll Call Staff
Rep. Robert Brady is trying to put new Members and their spouses at ease by introducing legislation that would make it a federal crime to use imagery or language intended to threaten or incite violence against a Member of Congress or federal official.
“The spouses are in an uproar,” the Pennsylvania Democrat told CNN on Sunday. “They are panicking.”
He said he plans to introduce the legislation on the first day the House reconvenes. It would expand protections now afforded to the president to other civil servants.
The announcement came one day after a gunman opened fire at a constituent event hosted by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) in Tucson. Six people were killed, and the Congresswoman was critically wounded. Eleven people were also injured.
Authorities say Giffords was the target of the attack.
Brady specifically criticized former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s online “hit list” of Members whom the Republican wanted defeated in 2010. Giffords was on that list, which used crosshairs on a map to identify districts to target during the midterm elections.
Members “are as out there as much as anybody else, and we are trying to criminalize behavior that puts bull’s-eyes over Members of Congress and their districts,” Brady said. “We’re going to make that a federal crime.
“All we’re doing is trying to protect ourselves and protect our staff members,” he continued. “I’m not going to hide or not go to my events or public events just because of this incident.”
Bob! Bob! Bob! How shallow of you to insinuate only one side is guilty. You know full well that both sides and even the press engage in this language in reference to political races. You sire just put yourself is the self-righteous and arrogant category. Why do I say that? Your own Democratic Leadership Council on its website has this picture
Each one of those looks like a bullseye to me Bob! Behind enemy lines? Sure sounds inflammatory to me! (Actually it does not it is just the way you ALL speak about the opposition) To use this tragedy as you have and others in your party now have to blame and try to raise up your own party is just sick. I propose that if you are going to ask that hate speech be regulated you start with your own party.
The voters and i are tired of this game. We voted so many out at all levels this year just for this reason. You and all the rest of the old guard politicians should take a page from your own book and stop the blame game. mainly because you are way off base.
Take a look at the related content link in this story. The bottom link is Lawmakers agree on need for more civil discourse. This link in a story where a Democrat FALSELY calls out a Republican for causing a madman to attempt to kill a well-respected Congresswoman. Am I the only one who see the dichotomy here?
Yes stop the madness. And that means all of you.
